Wisdom Instead of Knowledge
The Elders have always been revered in the history of humanity EXCEPT NOW. I used to love listening to my grandfather and grandmother, go into the woods with them and learn about nature, which they were still intimately connected to. My grandfather knew every mushroom and tree, knew his fields and what the soil needed just by looking, smelling and sometimes tasting it. My grandmother was a so called herb witch and I still regret that I didn't pay more attention to them when I had the chance. They both died when I was 12 within 6 month of each other. I am not sure it was true love in a romantic way but it was true companionship and a great love of the other for who they were.
Our elders are so important and we need to include them in society and have our kids be with them and learn. Not in nursing homes and old people communities but WITH us. Of course I am saying that out of self interest since at almost 53 I am heading there myself :)
Here is a prophecy from the Hopi Elders that my friend Robert Roskind posted:
Message from the Hopi Elders
We have been telling people that this is the Eleventh Hour Now you must go back and tell people that this is the Hour And there are things to be considered. Where are you living? What are you doing? What are your relationships? Are you in right relation? Where is your water? Know your garden. It’s time to speak your truth Create your community. Be good to each other. And do not look outside yourself for the leader. This could be a good time! There is a river flowing now very fast It is so great and shift that there are those who will be afraid. They will try to hold on to the shore. They will feel they are being torn apart and they will suffer greatly. Know the river has its destination. The elders say we must let go of the shore, and push off into the river, Keep our eyes open, and our heads above water. See who is in there with you and celebrate. At this time in history, we are to take nothing personally, least all ourselves. For the moment we do, our spiritual growth and journey comes to a halt. The time of the lone wolf is over. Gather yourselves! Banish the word "struggle” from your attitude and your vocabulary. All that you do now must be done in a sacred manner and in celebration We are the ones we have been waiting for…

Onward my sweet friend and I love you all dearly! Claudia
I remember the stories of families all living under one roof...great grandparents, grandparents, mom, dad, children...all taking care of each other. If your child had a fever, the grands and great grands had the remedy. No need to rush to an urgent care seeking some medical intervention. I would love to see some sort of that arrangement take place again. There is a time and place for Western medicine but much can be cared for directly at home. As we age, we have the experience that needs to be passed along to our youth so they learn love, spirituality, right from wrong, how to grow vegetables and herbs and then know how to use them, prepare them for winter use…
I feel what you mean about our Elders. I believe it is even part of the psych-op that we have demoralized what it means to grow older AKA WISE. In our New Society of Loving Communities, Elders will have their place at the Table...the Head of the Table!
(and I'm already in elderhood, as I celebrate 60-years wise this spring~).
